my mum got an A520 for Christmas and it seems completely incapable of retaining the date settings.

having read the manual it says that the battery that stores this info regularly dies early in the camera life because it is inserted at the point of manufacture and not at the time of purchase.

so i bought some new cr1220 batteries, swapped the date battery for a new one and that seemed to have solved the problem. until today, when it has reared its ugly head again.

can anyone suggest another reason for this? could it be linked to the AA batteries that are in the camera?

all suggestions welcome.

I would exchange the camera. It sounds like there is a short somewhere in the 520's circuit causing the battery to drain much faster than usual.

i have read the manual and it is stated that leave the AA batteries for the first time for approximately 4 hours (or use AC adapter kit) to charge the internal battery. if the internal battery expires so fast, problem could be from the camera itself.
