I got this shot of my mom last week while at her house. I know I've got some background issues, but any comments/ critiques welcome.

Very nice picture. I love the quality of it. But I have to agree about the silver nob. Maybe you can clone it out? Otherwise, I like it.

Thanks for your kind comments. The white balance is off, but I thought her skin tone looked better this way.
How's this one without the knobs?

I think a shallower DOF would have been nice. the bg does take away from the subject.

I think it's a great shot and I would leave the background just the way it is. I have some shots I took of my Grandmother in the chair she usually sat in with all her letter writing & embroidery/tatting next to her and I think those details add tremendously to the photos. I don't know if the mug collection is your mother's, but it places her in her home setting and tells a little more of a story. Just my 2¢.:)

Looks great without the knobs! Nice job! That's one to print and frame. It's very nice.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going to play with it a little more and see what I can come up with ( like blurring the background, etc.)

It's a nice shot. I do have one critique, though. Because of the angle and her seating position, the head is further away from the camera than any other part of her body, so it looks disproportionally small. In contrast, the legs and hands look too large.

I hadn't really noticed that until you said it. Thanks.

I like the picture it sets her well in the context of her home. I may have been tempted to include her feet though.

Thanks. She was wearing slippers and her jeans rode way up on her leg- I had to clone them down.

This is my sister in the next chair, wearing slipper socks.
