Question about changing lenses...

So I got a couple of lenses now but only one body.....my question is this......how long do u shoot with a lens before changing? I try and use the same lens for about an hour before I change to something else. i really don't like "exposing" the inside of my camera so often. Am I being too neurotic? What do u guys normally do?

When I used primes I tried to be methodical in my lens selection but almost always I would find myself changing back and forth.

Change lenses when you need to, I can leave the same lens on all day or change lenses every shot it all depends on where I am, what I am doing and what is happening around me. Setting an arbitrary time my be good for instilling self discipline, but you are going to miss some shots.

I change when the picture I want needs me to. Lenses are meant to be used. Actually, with 2 bodies, I don't have to change lenses quite as often as I would with only one.

I change lenses anytime,anywhere (literally) and NEVER worry about getting dust on the sensor- i know this is a safe thing to do because i've tried it over a long period.

Some specs are occasionally going to get on the sensor no matter what you do So there is absolutally no point trying convoluted silly theories only to deny yourself the use of your own lenses!

Learn to clean your sensor as it needs to be done occasionally as a preventative measure,and allways remember that spots only really show in clear areas of an image where they are incredibly easy to remove anyway...............

You change lenses every hour? My 24-70 has been on my camera for the past 3 weeks and hundreds of photos.

I have been known to change lenses every shot, in dust, snow and or knee deep mud. Good times. If you are so worried about your gear that you won't use it, something is wrong. The camera and lenses are simply tools, don't be afraid to use them!

there's gonna be dust on that sensor one way or another. change lense when you need to. it really won't make any difference. I was shooting a softball game on a windy day, and of course the dirt from the field was blowing right in my face. everything is fine. the wind might have even blown some dust OFF of my sensor.

I had similar lens cap issues. You'll get over it. Change when you want or need to. Deal with the dust when it happens.

I shoot basketball with three different primes and probably change lenses once every 15 minutes or so during a game. I really don't keep one lens on the camera most of the time.

It's simple, 2 bodies!!!!

Only change when I need to or think I'll need that other lens.

a lens is not a machine gun barrel . i change lenses whenever i have to and usually that's waaay more than i like.

i am trying to rectify that situation, however, with an incoming 24-105L .

seriously, change lenses whenever you need to. sensor cleaning is something i do about once a month or as needed and really isn't that big of a deal....tho make sure to do your homework before you make the attempt!

I change lenses as needed. Often, I will stick a lens on my camera and go out and decide I want something else.

If I had an "L" lens, I wouldn't take it off for a long time either!!!!!!!!! Maybe one day when the kids are done with College (they are 1 1/2 and 5 now lol)

Don't worry about dust, worry about dropping a lens. I change lenses as needed, but I look forward to the day when 300D's go cheap on EBay, I'll pick up a second body then.
