So I love everything about the dynamic range and workability of the D800, but I'm starting to think it may be a bit more than I need for what I do. I do a lot of street photography, some landscapes, portraits, and candids. I feel like the D800 isn't a great "do everything" kind of camera. I also miss the ergonomics of Canon. I've gotten used to the D800, but I picked up a 5DIII the other day and it felt better for sure. I've got a potential trade in the works, but I'm not sure if I should do it or not. I'm not heavily invested in Nikon glass, so that isn't a big deal. I just don't want to make the switch and regret it. So I guess my question would be, is the 5DIII going to be a better all around camera? Or do I just stick with what I've got and add lenses and be happy?

Well if you are considering the switch then I think you have made up your mind. Get the 5D MK III and be happy with it.

I just don't want to switch, and then regret it.

You will not regret it for sure. for what you do, I beleive the MK3 will perform better than your current body.

There's no such animal as the "perfect do everything camera."

Every model has strengths and weaknesses if you try to use it for everything.

Yes, I know. I'm just curious if the 5D3 is closer to it than the D800.

Why not just be happy with what you have? Switching back and forth isn't going to improve your photography any, will cost you $ in the long run, and drive you insane.. trying to stay on the cutting-edge(somewhat like with computers). ;)

just but the 5d3 use it for a bit and if you dont like it, sell it, take the small loss and know you have the right camera.
its probably cheaper and easier than swapping then finding out it was a mistake.

Yes. After more thinking, I feel like this may be the better option.

Was this really called for? Seems like a legit request, as you can follow his past posts on other boards about the initial switch to Nikon on April, and now possibly moving back. If you think a member is baiting others into a fake debate, just report the thread to the mods. But in this case, I am convinced they would come to the same conclusion I have.
