The D800 sensor runs laps around the 5D3 at low ISO, which is largely where I shoot.

Yeah right. You really were trolling after all.

Underwhelmed? With the sensor technology of the 5D3? Have you shot both Canon and Nikon?...I have when a good friend loaned me a Nikon.

Yes. I had a 5D2. The Dynamic range isn't close between the two. The 5D3 is good camera, but in reality it is what the 5D2 should've been.

 I have far better things to do then try to upset people by trolling. I could care less what you think about the camera. At ISO 100-200, the D800 has way more dynamic range than the 5D3.

So I love everything about the dynamic range and workability of the D800, but I'm starting to think it may be a bit more than I need for what I do. I do a lot of street photography, some landscapes, portraits, and candids. I feel like the D800 isn't a great "do everything" kind of camera. I also miss the ergonomics of Canon. I've gotten used to the D800, but I picked up a 5DIII the other day and it felt better for sure. I've got a potential trade in the works, but I'm not sure if I should do it or not. I'm not heavily invested in Nikon glass, so that isn't a big deal. I just don't want to make the switch and regret it. So I guess my question would be, is the 5DIII going to be a better all around camera? Or do I just stick with what I've got and add lenses and be happy?

My Fuji x100 is probably better than your d8OO monster shooting streets. Just saying the most advanced or expensive camera is not the best one for certain jobs.

Fuji XE-1, Zeiss ikon, Hasselblad; I love shooting film as a conceptual idea :)

I have a NEX-5n that does great on the street too. I happen to like the D800 for street photography.
