After a bit of a scuffle my 5d2 is completely done and I am replacing with the 5d3.

My question is, what is the value of the 5d2? If you were to look at the camera the only sign of any issue is that the LCD is cracked, there isn't a scratch or crack anywhere else on the body, but when the battery is in the shutter just fires indefinitely.

Find out the cost to repair... If it's less than the going price for a used one, you either can fix it and get the going used price or not fix it and discount it that amount plus a bit more. If the cost of repair is more than the going price for a used one (I doubt that would be the case), then you really can only offer it for parts and probably will only get a few hundred for it, at best.

I just bought a "Broken" 5DMKII for $500 and sent it to Canon service center in Virginia and for less than $250 I now have a like new 5DMKII with less than 100 clicks on it.

Could be a stuck shutter button which would be easy to fix. Then replace the back lcd panel and you got a nice 5D again. You won't know unless you send it in though.

an educated guess at repair -

Parts:
5D MK II window, TFT Display
CB3-4948 (external link)
USD$15 (may or may not need replacing)

5D MK II LCD Ass'y, TFT
CH9-1139 (external link)
USD$20 (seems a bit cheap for a TFT but you get the picture)

5D MK II Shutter Ass'y
CG2-2219 (external link)
USD$150

Labour:
3 hours
USD250?

have a look at working 5D MK II's are going for, and subtract costs above to figure out what it's probably worth. Oddly, some folks seem to pay more than items are worth for broken cameras...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Definitely worth having it fixed in my opinion.

Thank you so much for all of the information everyone! I would love to get it repaired and keep as a backup so I may send it into Canon and see what it would cost for me to fix it.

Once I know how much it will cost to fix I guess I will determine whether to fix or sell as is.

You can buy a new LCD and replace it yourself. Not that difficult.

Fuji XE-1, Zeiss ikon, Hasselblad; I love shooting film as a conceptual idea :)

Its not just the LCD, check out the video in the first post. The shutter seems to be stuck.

Yeah, get it sent in to Canon and find out, it may be a lot less than you think.

I've been meaning to sign up for CPS anyway, I believe that gives me some preferential treatment of some sort right?

EDIT:

Gold Membership purchased! $100 seems worth it for three day repairs, 30% off AND a neck strap!

Well, I listed my broken 5d2 on eBay after seeing a few with seemingly much more damage listed for a decent chunk of change. I probably started the bidding too high but I couldn't find a reserve price (is that still a thing?) so I am taking my chances.

Replace the LCD, leave the shutter, and sell it as the fastest FPS 5DII in existence.
