Jump

A handfull of jumps from the weekend.

I think they are a little soft/oof but I like the poses.

Comments on getting them sharper would be appreciated.

Kit used : 1dmkII, Canon 24-70L

I really like #2 where we get clear view of the face and expression. great shot
#3 is a little dark on the non-key side for my taste.

the softness is mostly at the extremities where movement will be fastest. You need to up your shutter speed and/or drop your aperture and rely more on the strobe. Mixing ambient and strobe with movement will give you motion blur.

the shadow in #2 is really effective too... I like it.

agree with increasing shutter speed. some extremities are blurred from motion. What was your shutter BTW?

Shutter was 160 iirc.

yeah, next time, try make your shutter to whatever max sync speed you can use. usually 1/250 if you can't use high speed sync.

Not to familiar with high speed sync. Im guessing it would be safe to increase the shutter speed until i see the curtain in the images & then knock it back again? Thanks very much for your advice

High speed sync is a feature on flashes such as Canon's speedlights. It allows you to use fast shutter speeds without having the dark curtains. But yeah, just increase the shutter speed until you see curtaining if you don't have HSS... If you really need faster than 1/250, you can just increase it more and have the curtains at the bottom... but crop it out. Some people purposely shoot the picture wide so they have space to cut off on the bottom.

Awesome, never thought of that. 100% sure that i dont have hss on the lights i was using (Elimental). Thanks again
