When shooting this photo, I thought I was going to really like this composition, although I wanted to step back to get a wider shot, but was could not. In the end, I'm a bit disappointed, but interested in what the potn world thinks. Comments on processing and anything else are welcome as well. Thanks in advance, I learn a great deal with every photo I post here. cmh

A bit 'meh' for me
- Lacking vibrance
- photo is divided in three by fog but it doesn't enhance the scene
- nothing really interesting in the foreground

Sorry, but I think its a reject

cheers, Paul

If it was me, I would have cropped the top of the photo off, so there is just fog at the top, no sky.

I would crop out the top too. I can see why you like the top in but I think there would need to be more above the fog for it to work.

The hills are underexposed and my eye is drawn to the fog...lots of fog. Remember that fog will typically underexpose an image. The comp itself doesn't do a whole lot for me. There's nothing to really lead me in to the photo. I know you most likely could not have repositioned yourself, but if this image was taken looking into the drainage valley to the right, I think this would be much better.

First thing I would have done as well. With that done, I like it.

Thanks for the comments all - you kind of confirmed what I was thinking regarding the comp. I had already done these two treatments of the same scene which I like better than the original post, but I was curious what you thought of my OP because in camera I thought it would be my favorite. Lots to learn...

In all them the colors look flat and rather bland. There's nothing really compelling about any of them and I don't really think the fog adds to the photos. I don't think these photos do much other than being chalked up as lessons learned for next time.

I agree. This crop would have looked really nice imo..

I agree with this comment.....You could however do as you have done above and convert to B&W (might as well) - the converted image posted could use some contrast boost however.
