And it may get worse, I just came across a story where a nukie power plant near Toms River in Jersey is having problems keeping the spent fuel pools cooled and may have to resort to hitting them with fire hoses as they cannot run the heat exchangers.

Talk about a Fukushima Daiichi in New Jersey??

I missed this post earlier.

The plant never had any problems with keeping the rods cool, no systems failed, and the alert had been cancelled by the time you posted this. The alert was simply them saying "Hey, there could be a problem if the water levels keeps rising and here's our plan, just in case."

Exelon said in a statement on Wednesday the winds and heavy rains generated tides 6.8 feet above mean sea level at the 43-year-old plant's water intake. But they were never high enough to top the intake canal banks or affect operation of the plant's equipment.

After water levels returned to normal and offsite power was restored, Exelon said the plant exited the alert early Wednesday morning.
