I'm about to sell my 7D. I bought it this past January, so it has a few months left on the Canon warranty of one year. Is there any way for me to pass this on to a buyer? Would he/she have to send the camera back to me for it to be sent in and repaired if need be?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind. I called Canon and asked them and they said that it's not officially transferrable, but if the buyer has my receipt that they would be covered. Good to know.

Did you register it? That may prevent them from getting service, even with the receipt.

Like Canon said, all they need is your receipt. The camera can be considered as a "gift". If the item is a gift, the receiver gets warranty so as long the item was never registered or serviced.

"THIS LIMITED WARRANTY SHALL NOT EXTEND TO ANYONE OTHER THAN THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER OF THE PRODUCT, OR THE PERSON FOR WHOM IT WAS PURCHASED AS A GIFT, AND STATES YOUR EXCLUSIVE REMEDY."
