I am torn between the following setup :

Zeiss 21/2.8
50L

or

24LII
Zeiss 50/2 MakroPlanar

I actually own the 24LII but the Zeiss 21/2.8 is really tempting for the Zeiss look. Option 2 is interesting as I want to keep a fast low light prime and the 50MP had the macro option...

I was going to go 24LII + 50L route but the Zeiss optics looks is very tempting...

I love my Zeiss lenses, especially the 21mm. But I've never shot the 24L II, 50L or Zeiss 50mm MP....

the macro on the 50mm is awesome... i have so many uses for it... it even takes a nice portrait in low light.

the 21 is addicting.... it doesn't have a lot of the distortions i see in other wide lenses.

if you dont need autofocus.. i see no reason other than cost not to get a full zeiss lineup.

Anyone using Zeiss lens on 5D3?? Just ordered one and I'm a little bit worried about using my 50 MP without the eg-s high precision screen like on my 5D2...

It's easy to focus at f2.

You would want either eg-s screen or live view focusing.

Fuji XE-1, Zeiss ikon, Hasselblad; I love shooting film as a conceptual idea :)

With your 85 and 70-200 it looks like your portraits are covered. I would pick the 50L if portraits were the main thing you do but if not and you wanted a 50mm lens that was a little different the 50MP is a great choice.

I have both the 50L and the Zeiss 50MP on a 5D3. They are both very good lenses, but they produce rather different looks. After I microadjusted the 50MP the focus confirmation is dead on, no problems with focusing at all. I use my Zeiss lenses much more than my Canon ones, but you will likely be happy with either choice.

I have the 21 and 50MP. While the 21 is very good, the 50MP is a world class lens - it's also a very useful 1:2 macro.

Personally, I think you'll get more use from the 24 / 50MP combo.

Focusing - even after trying several very costly screens, I can't achieve critical focus through any viewfinder - the dioptre correction is just too critical. I get around this using magnified live view and a 3x loupe. I've attached a stick on Zacuto frame to the LCD of my camera so that installing the loupes a second. It looks a little strange but it works....

Several cameras and more glass than I will admit to.

I have the Zeiss 21/2.8 & 50L combination. But I would go for the Zeiss 50/2 MakroPlanar & Zeiss 21/2.8 just to get that special Zeiss look. Two magical lenses, assuming you are not afraid of Manual Focus. Zeiss 21 is a better in landscapes than Canon 24mm.

You probably need Eg-s to work with 50mm. MF in wide angle lenses is certainly no problem for me, it's easy, in my opinion one doesn't really need AF on wide angles...

How about the Zeiss 25mm f2 and the 50mm f2 MP?

I have the 25 f2 ZF.2 and it's a very sharp lens. :)

I have a Zuiko 21, 50MP and 100MP.
I have a Brightscreen split prism and it makes manual focusing way easier than with the atandard screen. I am very happy with this setup. (5dII)
When I grow up ;) I will probably get the 24TSE which I like more than the 21ZE, and my trinity will be complete.
