Walking the dog this evening after work I spotted this fellow along the shore. After dropping the dog back at home I hurried back and tried to get a few shots in the quickly fading light... Hopefully it'll stick around for another day or so, I'd like to try more shots in better conditions.

Now called a Wilson's snipe. Nice and sharp with a good reflection.

From that angle it looks like a Short-billed Dowitcher to me...although, the shore birds are definitely not my strong suit. But, the Wilson's Snipe is a summer bird in the Ontario area, whereas the SBD is a heavy migrant through that whole region.

Either way that is a gorgeous shot of the bird.

A nice sharp shot, Mike; good for you; now, if anyone ever tries to send you out on a snipe hunt, you'll know what to look for.

Nice shot! My vote is for a Wilson's Snipe.
