Clark's nutcracker

We've had an unusual visitor here in the Twin Cities over the last few days. These are western birds, but this one seems to have found a home here, temporarily at least. It is completely fearless of humans, so is very easy to photograph, though it seems to spend most of its time on the ground. Fun bird to see!

Good for you, Liz; I saw where one flew over Hawk Ridge and one was photographed in Cloquet; I wonder if yours is the same bird?

I don't know. I suppose it could be. This one was hanging out in a Shoreview neighborhood along a popular bike path. A friend of mine who lives there saw it a few days ago while biking along the path. Now the bird has become a minor celebrity here in town! I wonder if it will stay over the winter.
