I do not want your curves tool but try a Levels in ps...I did play with levels...
What I did found on this forums majority of members do not have calibrated monitors.Maybe it is going to look too
dark but it is not...I just blow up a higlights on her hand where watch is.

sasa... the subject looks perfect on my monitor, but the background is still very gray and I'm thinking in reality it's supposed to be white like in his first image.

nice pictures, wish i had a studio. in the first one, it looks like the left side is white and the right side is kind of gray.
