Ordered my 5d3 yesterday from B and H. They matched the price listed on Amazon. They told me that due to the flooding at their warehouse area it would not arrive until early next week. What a surprise when my wife called me at work to tell me that a package had been delivered. So much for any honey do's getting done this weekend :)

Yeah, I've been a faithful B&H customer for 5+ years, always a positive experience.

The second to last time I ordered something from them (Tamron 60mm f2 1:1 Macro), the lens arrived dead, and I was dreading the return process...they were totally cool about it and it was a fast and painless deal...so, I took the money they gave me back and ordered my 100 f2 with it :)

yeah B&H is great, just don't visit the store or your wallet will be significantly lighter when you leave. I've never made it out there without buying something. :D

^^

I visited the store and can say, from experience, the above is true. That place is awesome! Got my camera bag, Speedlite, and the 70-300 IS USM while I was there. The efficiency and the whole conveyor belt system they have is genius, you have to see it to appreciate it. They are able to service a ridiculous amount of customers without a hiccup.

I ordered an Epson R2880 on October 21. Their website stated 7 to 14 business days before shipment and the Epson direct store was out of stock. I was printing with it on the 29th. B&H and UPS are a great combination.

I've had nothing but good experiences with them. They would get way more of my business if they weren't constantly not accepting orders for one reason or another. So Amazon gets the bulk of my money.

They are good though and have earned the great rep they have. :)

Any reason why you just didn't order from Amazon?

There are a few retailers out there that are simply awesome....from their products, promptness of service, and customer service.

B&H is definitely high on the list. I've also had equal success with Amazon, Musiciansfriend, Sweetwater Music, and Autogeek.

Dan, when a company treats me fairly they earn my busuness. Sometime willing to pay a little more knowing that they stand behind their customers and there would never be a hassel if I needed to return something. B&H took back a lense after the 3o days was up so that I could make an exchange. I have nothing but respect on how they conduct business.

I agree. I really respect B&H for sticking to their morals and closing so often but at the same time, when I need something, I need it. Not that B&H is in any way hurting for business, but Amazon has gotten tons of business from me that would have gone to B&H if they weren't closed for one reason or another.

Plus I can generally get something from Amazon the next day if I order early enough which is incredibly convenient.

Any old timers here remember a place called 34th St Photo, or something similar? When I lived in NYC I'd visit the store and spend most of my paycheck there. Is it still around?

Not sure about OP, but I started using Amazon less when Texas started charging sales tax, whereas B&H does not.

Both B&H and ADORAMA are the best that I have found with Amazon a close 3rd.

I think that was 47th St. Photo. Located on the second floor of the building. Bought all my Kodachrome with processing and mounting included there. Check the Sunday NY Times advert and run in on the E Train. Now there is a 45th St Photo but I don't think it's related.

Fair enough -- I love B&H, have never had any problems with them either. One of the better businesses to deal with on a regular basis.
