After grilling tonight I thought what the heck, why heat up the house? Using an olive oil pump spritzer and salt I cooked up a few batches. They came out with a slight smoky flavor (cherry) and nice and crunchy. Family loves them. Mmm good.

My grandmother used to make those all the time. Delicious. :)

Well, backwoods raised here and never heard of it. Looks good and I will definitely have to try it out.

Is there an inner part you eat or just eat the whole seed?

My wife sits and cracks them open one by one eating the seed inside. I just gobble 'em down whole.

Yes, I lightly salted them with sea salt after a light spray of olive oil to help it stick. I don't care for too much salt and feel the store bought pumpkin seeds are like eating straight salt chunks. On your first batch do a taste test on how much. Everyone's different.

If you do this on the grill, a couple tips, be sure to do this well after a grilling when there are no flames at all, but still plenty hot. Keep your batches small, don't walk off for too long, maybe add some wood chunks the first time to see if it's for you. Play around with different seasonings, maybe garlic or even those popcorn topper flavorings. Parsley flakes? Don't go too heavy with the olive oil or later they can be kind of funky, keep your basket oiled, close your lid to keep the heat and smoke in. Bake them until they're lightly browned and crunchy. After they're done lay them out on paper towels to soak up any extra oil. I stored mine in a large zip lock, maybe next time I'll try a brown paper bag.

Either way have fun and try different things.
