Greetings

Those with experience with the Yonguo flashes, especially the newer ones. I'm looking for the 430EXII equivalent that works fully with the YN622 transceivers. Full in camara menuing control.

This flash will be used for BG, hair, accent, etc. on location.

Thanks for the time and opinion.

All these flashes fully support menu flash control with the YN-622C:
(HSS) YN-568EX
(Without HSS) YN-565EX, YN-468, YN-468 II, YN-467, YN-467 II, YN-465
In this case, YN-468, YN-467, YN-465 does not work directly on the hot shoe of some cameras :)

Thank You!

I'm leaning towards the YN-468II as it appears to be one of the newer versions and I'm not looking for HSS. This/these would be used in conjunction with studio lights on location.

Thanks

I'm wondering if there is a reliability advantage with some models over others?

I've been using the Yongnuo YN465 and several YN460's for over three years with no problems.

I just wrote an article on this just last week -

http://flashhavoc.com …-slave-flash-for-yn-622c/ (external link)

The 430exII equivalent is the YN-568EX

but if you don't need HSS then it would be the YN-565EX

Of the cheaper ones than the two above the first YN-465 is the way to go as it has a little more power than the others, but they are all underpowered especially if you want to combine with studio lights.

Which is why I would go with the 568EX, unless you want an external battery pack port, in which case the 565EX is the one.

Great article elv! I just ordered a couple sets of the radio triggers and looking at couple more flash units. Great info and details on units and combinations.
Thanks!

The 568EX is the latest model, and the ony one I have not seen a single failure for (so far).

So touch wood they have improved with the 568, its certainly a nice flash. All the rest have had quite a chequered history, the major issues fixed but random failures don't seem to have stopped.

The main thing is to look for a seller with 12months warranty and preferably local so turn around is quick if there is an issue. Thats why Amazon is often ideal if you can access them.

elv

outstanding job on the article!

The cost of the YN-465 makes it hard to deny. Tmart.com looks to be getting an order.

Many thanks.

Thanks guys, for anyone else reading this regarding the 568EX -

I just checked the 568 on Amazon and noticed most have disappeared, this is likely due to the software bug in the first batch being fixed. You can see more about that in the 568 thread - https://photography-on-the.net …ead.php?t=1220090&page=16

The issues have been fixed but If buying right now I think you would have to go to the official YN store to guarantee an updated version -

No doubt they will be back on Amazon soon at pretty good prices.

So no HSS + Battery pack version? Seems a bit shortsighted to me.
