I thought of experimenting with the water. Sugar sometimes help bind things together so I thought of trying sugar water to see if it increases the stability of the bubble. One of these days I'll try it. Can't really complain about 4 minutes of playtime. Thanks for sharing.

Try glycerin instead. Available in your drug store in the facial care aisle.

yeah, I gots some stuff.

I've used it in the past for water drops, always have a bottle on hand. I was watching a video on you tube & the guy was getting bubbles that would last all day. He was adding vanilla liquor & hypothesized that it was the high sugar content of the liquor. This is what has made me think of sugar water. I will try it 1 day.

I saw the same Video I think and I'm quite dubious - I don't see how he ended up with crystallised bubbles at all unless he's doing something else he doesn't let on in the video! Glycerine has always worked for me :)

Stack a Nikon nifty fifty backwards on the front of a Sigma 200mm and you get a 4:1 reproduction ratio. Well why not? :-)

Here's 4 single images of a fountain pen nib, ballpoint nib, .3mm Letraset pen nib and some Junior Hacksaw teeth. Captured very quickly, with no real work holding, no proper lighting setup, and converted to jpg straight out of the camera, just to see if it works - always good to have another option.

Decent working distance, reasonable contrast, decent DOF, so stacking increments don't need to be stupidly small, I say it's a winner. It's time for me to sort out an automated capture system for focus stacking I think.

But yes, I know one of the lenses needs cleaning ߘ

That's why I said I'd have to experiment. I mentioned sugar water but also wanted to experiment with salt water. I thought of even trying "thick it" which I have used with some success in water drops. Honestly, if your getting 4 minute bubbles I'd be quite happy with that.

Combining my last 2 posts, soap films, at 4:1 reproduction ratio.
DOF is insane, especially with everything moving around so quickly - it would be really useful if I could work out how the chap in the video @pigpen101 mentioned managed to crystallise his bubbles so I could stack.
Shot at ISO 1600, low shutter speed, but still, these 2 are pretty decent.
