Is there any way this CB-2LXE charger is a genuine Canon?

Hey guys...

Just wondering...does this look real to you guys?

Looks pretty damn genuine to me, but the price is insanely low...opinions?

Chances are it'll work just fine and I'll get it, but I'd like to know...

Looks genuine but his feedback is a bit bad for my likes.

What did the seller say about it when you asked them this question?

You reckon ???

Photo is not of the actual charger you will receive (it is "the same as"), the seller is in China, where all the fakes come from, and his negative feedbacks include multiple comments about chargers not working and chargers being fakes.

Yes, it's cheap but some of these Chinese fakes are potentially dangerous. I bought a charger from China (more expensive and no such obvious warnings that it was fake) but which I could see was a fake once it arrived. I needed a charger that weekend though, so decided to give it a try anyway. Plugged it in at the hotel and when I switched the socket on there was a flash, a bang and all the lights went out in my room. I had to go and see the hotel management and apologise and ask them to flip the breakers back on again. It turned out it blacked out the entire floor.

In addition, my thumb was blackened with the scorch marks from the initial flash as it shorted out.

My recommendation - Do not touch this thing. At that price they must be made by using the cheapest possible components and slapped together with no quality control or safety measures.

Wow, thanks for the replies...I guess I'll stay away from it.

I've had numerous cheap/aftermarket chargers and never had an issue, but they weren't fakes, they were simply straight up third-party chargers...I'll see if I can get my hands on a genuine OEM one.

Wow...what is wrong with me? First I email the wrong manufacturer about faulty CF cards and now this...

I needed to know this for an Ixus I got without a charger...I just realized that I have a Canon S100 (with an EXTRA genuine charger...guess what...they use the same battery haha. Took me 2.5 weeks to think of it :p

This is awesome, because I have a handful of cheap Chinese batteries for the S100, but they're only so-so in performance...so I've been thinking of getting a new NB-5L for that camera...well, now I have two genuine NB-5Ls for this one, and 5 Chinese ones that I can share between it and the Ixus (the Ixus is just to throw in my bag to have something there...don't really care about battery performance), plus two chargers for the two cameras...everyone's happy :D
