For those who have visited and photographed at this wonderful wildlife refuge in Atlantic County, NJ: the refuge was significantly damaged in the recent Sandy storm, and is closed to the public indefinitely.
The loop road, Wildlife Drive, was crested by water, and big chunks are now missing. The pools are apparently open to the bay now, so I assume they lost water level and salinity control.
Possibly worse, though, is that 'dozens' of boats - including motor boats with oil/gasoline - and other junk washed up onto the refuge's 50 miles of shore. One of their pictures shows an oil tank in the reeds. Their statement says they have to do 'extensive assessments' - including spill control - before they can estimate repair times.
