Lol, non sense, 35mm I would rather add $200 and get a used 35 1.4. and it's freaking L as of 24-70, the brick it's a much better lens.

I really want a center-pinch cap for my 14L but I don't see one among the rest.:(

I seriously am starting to hate Canon. Every decision they have made since about 2009 seems awful.

What are you talking about, They just released pinch caps for all of their lenses:

I'm sure they will be listed for under $250 a piece...

What is wrong with Canon these days? They used to be king of the hill, but now each new announcement makes less and less sense compared to what their competition are doing.

The 24-105L was already a very good lens. So instead of updating it to a 24-105 II or using the R&D funds to make a 24-70 2.8 IS, Canon instead produces a lens which nobody asked for:the 24-70 f/4... And charges $1500 for it! Cut 35mm off the zoom range of the 24-105L and double the price. Great strategy, Canon...

Maybe the new lens cap will spur some new sales.........
As for the new 24-70 f4 IS...Why o Why...24-105 all the way over that... I'll never even touch one of those 24-70's..
I'd prefer a 24-105 II see what Canon can do with that, perhaps make it a 2.8..;)

WOW. Even after $2300 for 24-70II, I did not see this coming for 24-70/f4. 35IS is not far off though.

I think I'll keep my 24-105 4L IS... I like the extra reach.

Canon, you're losing it.

It seems like they took all of the reasons that folks choose the either 24-70 or 24-105 over the other one and combined the wrong things into one lens...:| I do not get this one

They made the 24-70 f/2.8L II....it doesn't really need IS. Dropping down to f/4...IS starts to make a bit of sense.

I'm willing to bet that it's optically far superior to the 24-105.

That .7x max mag sure is badass though. Not enough to get me excited about that price they want, but still intriguing.

At $1500, hopefully it at least has floating elements for close range correction. Otherwise that close focusing is a bit gimmicky.

This is probably the only thing I will be able to afford from this latest announcement but I am very excited by it!

You can buy center pinch caps on ebay for a few dollars a piece. The quality is quite decent too.

Btw, couldn't help but notice in your sig, there is no such thing as the EF-S 50mm 1.8 ;)
