I did just see a guy in the FS area looking to trade a good Sigma 30 for a Canon 28mm f/1.8 too ;) lol

But regardless.. I dunno, Great, Now im all back in a rut feeling I'm spending too much for something for my "measly" 7D :(

-edit- and taking a look around the Sigma 30 thread does make me wonder if i shouldnt give it a second shot..

See your comments keep bringing me to "im spending too much on lenses for a crop camera"

Ridiculous.

Spend on what allows you to get the results you want.

True... I'm just being silly...

I love my 7D, even if i get a FF cam, i think id like to do so and keep the 7D, so the FF cam is a REAL long ways away

Do you really think the sigma 35mm is going to be that much better than the 30mm that its worth double the price

I'm really itching to see some reviews/comparisons and find out.

If you shoot video; it should be for the IS alone. Stills? We need reviews.

FYI, it comes with a hood and case! I say buy it. Like you said, IS will come in handy. What's funny, I thought about buying a 35L, but now I have to reconsider. I'm not sure whether you should switch to Nikon, buy the new lens is tempting for sure! :D

EDIT: Jperture beat me to it!

If the 35 f2 is sharp wide open I may get it. The 35l, IMO, doesn't get sharp till f2

^- I'm betting it will be... Canon's new lenses have been exceptionally good, just exceptionally expensive!

The Sigma is calling my name though, I figure hey, if its a dud I can always return it and try a second copy or get the 35mm f/2 IS instead...

I wondered the same thing.
The 30 is great and I wouldn't bother "upgrading" any time soon unless I go FF and then I'll just buy the 35L (or 35L II) ;)

Why 35mm? If you go Full Frame, a 50mm lens would closer to the field of view that you are used to with your 30mm on a crop camera.

Because I already have a fifty... ;)
You are right though, if/when I go FF, I'll have to re-arrange my lens lineup (including replacing my beloved 10-22). If Canon doesn't come up with a 14-24 by then, I'll probably buy a Nikon 14-24 and an adapter to hold me over.

Thanks for the info Ed! I'm still torn myself. Like others have stated, I want to see real world pix like your set with the 24-70 2.8 II. I will rent the 35mm L very soon. It will be useful around thanksgiving to say the least.

I just imported my photos to sell my stuff.. So yeah... Then hopefully can place my order for a Sigma 35mm f/1.4..

Fun side note, was using my 15-85 for food today, Pretty much seem to work between 24-35mm all the time.. So yeah..

I still can't get over the price. This is a no brainier at $500 or even 600, but $800-900 and it's just too much.

^ Tell me about it.

I'd rather save another $100 and get the L, myself. But who knows, maybe this one will be sharper than the 35L.

But it's all relative, I guess.

At some point, these lenses are just going to cap out at sharpness, right? Then it's just user error at that point on what's sharper than another lens?
