^ Tell me about it.

I'd rather save another $100 and get the L, myself. But who knows, maybe this one will be sharper than the 35L.

But it's all relative, I guess.

At some point, these lenses are just going to cap out at sharpness, right? Then it's just user error at that point on what's sharper than another lens?

I'd say almost any new lens is QUITE sharp it seems, it seems like a long while since a real stinker came out (The original 18-135 comes to mind..)

Anyways, 15-85 shots, First was at about 35 (Just double checking ;) I seem to keep it between 24-35 for this type of shot)

and because i could, 15mm f/3.5 ;)

Why do i still want the prime? Simply put the 15-85 is a bit too big as a walkaround in my bag, the 50mm f/1.4 is much more manageable and the 35 and 28 primes are even better still.. Also being able to open up to f/2 or f/1.4 CAN be useful!

I honestly think IS combined with smaller aperture is the way to go for food photography. So 35f2 IS might be better than fast prime imo.

I don't think the Sigma 351.4 is any smaller than the 15-85 ;)

Have you consider something like a mirrorless (Oly with IBIS) + a pancake prime?

True on one hand, but on the other hand id use it for more than food photography, and for other shots the f/1.4 would be handy...

Sadly i dont have a 35mm f/1.4 to see the difference! XD

Hey - would you want to sell your broken Tamron 28-75? What's broken about it?

I can't decide if I want to jump and get this 35 f/2 IS or a mid-range zoom.

And, proof of can't deciding, is that I probably have 6 posts in different lens threads saying "I can't decide on this lens..." hahaha

To answer your question i give you a picture

As for whats broken, it doesnt really zoom, its got a huge crack in it, the autofocus is borked and manual focus is a tidge wonky

I'm unsure i really CAN sell it, i claimed it on insurance and they wrote it off and gave me a check for it.. they said to pitch it or whatever i wanted to do with it...

Think of all the amazingly sharp and bokeh-y pictures you could take with the sigma between now and then :)

Oh man, I'm all over that Sigma, The Canon isnt even a contender at this point because for $50 more you get the Sigma...

if the Canon was... I dont know... $600, or even $700, I'd say its got a better case.. but at $50 less than the f/1.4 Sigma which is basically out there kicking rears and taking names... Yeah... hard sell

And for the record, Yes I'm planning to get the Sigma, the market for used stuff is just not so good and Im having problems moving my 28mm f/1.8..

I'm dreading the day when I have to move my crop lenses because I'm based in HK, where the used market (especially the english speaking one) is so much smaller than practically everywhere else.

Kenji. Go and buy something already so I can learn from your success and mistakes. :D I'm sitting here with my 60D, crop lenses, and thinking of buying a new lens and wait for Canon FF or go over to the dark side. Sound familiar?

Lol, As i said, Waiting on the 28mm f/1.8 to sell! I might end up keeping it for now...

Anyways, since the original post I HAVE determined a few things:

1. The D600 and the 6D are not the cameras for me, they look cool on the surface but overall I'm giving up a lot for just Full Frame, Same with a 5DII

1a. On the D600, I'm going through the hassle of switching systems and what do I realistically gain? Full Frame, thats about it, Theres no lenses that Nikon has that I dont already have or cant get for Canon right now, And my 100mm f/2.8L IS I feel is a superior lens to the 105 VR Micro-Nikkor in terms of usability (The Hybrid IS works at macro distances, the VR on the Nikkor does -not-) While Nikon has an IQ advantage, I am uncertain its beneficial in my particular shooting situations, I have to look at the complete picture..and while there are many awesome Nikon lenses out there, I do have a soft spot for a couple of my L lenses, especially my 100L

1b. On the 6D I give up the ergonomics which I love on my 7D for the 60D ergonomics which are actually -painful- for me to use

1c. On any of the above cameras I give up speed (I dont always need 8fps, But boy I've been happy to have it more than a few times) I give up the AF system (The D600 is better in some situations, but overall I feel my 7D can outfocus it, But regardless, all the above cameras have lousy frame coverage compared to the 7D which is more what I care about) I give up compatibility with CF cards (Not a huge deal, except i have CF cards and no SD cards..I can fix that for not a lot of money but it is a minor thing to keep in mind for me) And I''m unsure I wont be unhappy with the lower pixel density at times, I'm not a 2 camera person either

1d. Going full frame realistically means lens changeups, Even staying with Canon

1e. My gut says a 5D Mark III fits me best and gets me an actual upgrade in just about every area, Just because i CAN have a D600 or 6D now doesnt mean its the right choice and I feel in 6 months I'd likely be sitting here regretting I spent the money instead of waiting a while and getting the 5DIII instead

2. The thing I really want right now is my Sigmalux with a wider field of view, And now with the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 A I can get that easily, The other thing I wanted was the unique perspective of a fast ultrawide/wide lens, but given my realistic budget right now, even if i buy a FF camera, I am unlikely to be able to get one PLUS say, a 16-35 f/2.8L II... Also if i went full frame the Sigma 35 f/1.4 would still be an awesome lens I suspect, as I know from experience the subjects I want to use it on I like the perspective of 24-35mm, So yeah, Not a bad investment

3. With the way the used market is right now, I doubt my 7D will move fast or for a good price, it IS 3 years old and it DOES have somewhere in the neighborhood of 70k actuations on it, its a lot less attractive than the ones im seeing with less than 10k actuations that were bought a couple months ago, Since I'd really want to get the money from my 7D to pay back a bit of my new camera (or fund a lens) this is kinda a big deal, I'm not looking at much for my 7D most likely, if it sells at all
