Camera with this this price point comes with the dust on sensor and dust in pentaprism ??!!
Why ??

And more than this Canon CPS Canada (Mississauga location) want charge me $300-400 just to clean dust in pentaprism, cos` it's not covered under the warranty.

Now I can not return it to the store, due to the non returnable Pro equipment policy and can not clean it for free because it's not covered by Canon warranty .

Speechless

Uh...you're gonna get dust in there anyway. Are you sure it's not on the outer surface?

Its going to get in both of those locations sooner or later. I guess you can either deal with it or try to get it fixed. Its a lot of work to get the pentaprism out and cleaned then put back in. As I said before it will get something in there sooner or later anyway. Having something in there doesn't affect your pictures, its just annoying to see it there. You can get CPS to clean your sensor for free, but it will probably be quicker and easier to do it yourself.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

You absolutely right, but it's very annoying to see it in Flagship body

I bought 5D3 with dust up in the pentaprism. I know eventually itll get in there but this was too much for me to accept. Large piece in the top right corner and a bunch of those almost impossible to see smaller ones in around the center frame. In the end I exchanged it for a new one. The new one also had a few of the the faint ones center frame. I guess we gotta learn to deal with it.

All my cameras in the past have arrived perfectly clean. Remember the 5D classic. Some said it was the body. Some also attributed it to massive size of the FF viewfinder that was so new to everyone. I didnt believe this only because my apsc bodies came so clean.

All my viewfinders eventually get dust specs. Ive never ever been able to remove or even move a dust spec up there. Ive only added more dust up there in my attempts. I now stopped blowing air into the body, focus screen area. Ill still blow air onto the rear lens element but that its. Rocket air into the focus screen area just shoves the dust farther in.

The dust doesnt bother me anymore. It wont be my last camera. I think i understand the OP in saying it shouldnt be acceptable for a brand new camera. I do think the sensor dust could be coming from movement of brand new parts. But the pentaprism, thats just leftovers from the workers lunch.

Love those comment's when you have nothing to say.
And this is from someone with 4K comments history.
The rest 3999 of your comment also that useful ?

Just to remind you that, if there a dust inside the camera, the water can be easily there to.
And if it's the dust in a brand new camera - it's a QC problem.
And if it's QC problem in Flagship camera ..... we are in trouble.
Expecting from Canon being at list responsible for that and replace it or clean it for free, and not charging $300-400.

Do you have enough stuff to quality for CPS? Do that and pay the fee for Gold status (assuming it is all the same in Canada) and then use one of your check and clean coupons to get it cleaned.

That said, I totally agree with you that it should have come cleaner on the top of the line body out of the box, and Canon should be glad to clean it for you since obviously you are buying the top end body.

Saying that "it's going to get in there sooner or later" is like saying it's okay to buy a brand new Ferrari with scratched up paint because it's going to get scratches sooner or later...I think it's ridiculous that a body like a 1Dx gets into the customer's hands at anything less than 100% perfect condition...furthermore, I'm disappointed that Canon didn't immediately wave the cleaning fee and offer to rectify the issue.

Dust in a camera is a non-issue
Zero impact in the viewfinder, easily cleanable on the sensor, and in the life of your (and every other DSLR in existence) dust will visit many many surfaces inside and out

It's ridiculous to think there shouldn't be any just because you paid a higher fee, and its ridiculous that you should expect someone to clean it out for free

At least you understand that where dust can reach, so can water... But that camera is not 100% air tight 100% of the time, so air (which will carry dust) can get in, and there is nothing you can do that's feasible to prevent it
