Jeep owners usually take dust, dirt, and mud as badges of honor.. No cleaning necessary.

A clean Jeep- means you ain't trying hard enough...

The problem here, despite everyone's bickering back and forth, is simply that the OP is in Canada!!!!
Canon Canada could care less about ANYthing from the several times i have dealt with them, and from stories from friends....
Canon USA, or Canon CPS USA would (***most likely!!!***) take the camera, clean it for free, and give you a ton of apologies, possibly even freebies for something like this.

No, a speck of dust means NOTHING in the grand scheme of things...especially several months from now..but on a BRAND new flagship model camera, fresh off the factory floor, with dust inside the prism is just ridiculous..imho.
Dust on the sensor, or something like that, I could see..but inside the prism? no..
Yes, SOMEONE has to be that 1% of unlucky people who get things like this..NOTHING is perfect. period. it cant be. even in the most controlled environments, SOMETHING can always happen!
I was that person when my spinal fusion surgery got infected two weeks post-op...less than 3% chance.
I dealt with the pain(worst pain ever..nothing compares to it), with the help of some very good meds ;) and went on my way..

Now, I also have quite a lot of experience in this, but shipping something can easily knock dust/debris loose from other places inside the camera and allow it to 'fall' into annoying locations..
IT HAPPENS...

So while I sympathize with the OP, I think I would do my little vent here and tell the world how horrible Canon is(when really, it is just the OP's location/Canon rep/country/store policy, etc), and then go on my way and just enjoy the wonderful camera I just got... after all, that is the whole point. you have a 1Dx! congrats! sorry to hear you have a speck of dust in the prism, but go SHOOT something and you will forget about it in 5 seconds or less..
If you dont, you need to just give up now because you will never be happy with these kinds of cameras. period..
My wife? couldnt stand something like this. she only uses a Sony P&S now because there is little to no possibility of dust ever getting inside(or so she thinks!lol)

If that is the case, just throw the camera away. But give me your address before you do so I can come rummage through your trash! :D

just IMHO..
Cheers!

May I ask when you bought it - did you by chance part pay for it with counterfiet money?
If you did you got what you deserved.
If you didn't:-

DO US ALL A FAVOUR, WRITE DOWN THE SERIAL NO. WRITE IN RED INK ON THE BOX FAULTY DIRTY SENSOR! AND RETURN IT, DEMAND A FULL REFUND, WALK OUT OF THE STORE, HAVE A DRINK - WALK BACK IN AND BUY ANOTHER ONE.

IF WE ALL DID THIS, THESE MANUFACTURERS WOULD CLEAN UP THEIR QC PROCEEDURES!

It is really a big deal for me as well. I am also a nikon shooter for more than 4 years now and there are no dirt issues on my pentaprism! Canon needs to re assess the way they manufacture 1dx cameras. I have the same issue with my 1 dx camera and I exchanged it for the 3rd time already but there are still dust in the pentaprism on the new ones that came in. I just called BNH for an exchange again for the 4th time! My concern is that I am looking at a few dust right now but what if my return policy expires then it will leave me with a 6800 dollar camera with those annoying dirt.

Very sorry for you.
I am amazed that the store has that policy.
The sale of goods act would not allow them to squirm out of it - under the excuse its a pro body!

In fact the opposite the more it costs the more the customer is entitled to expect a higher standard.
If a UK supplier tried that crap on me, a firm conversation would go along the lines of refund it now. Or I will have my solicitor bike you the writ. And his bill.

I suggest you check your statutory rights!

TBH stories like this have taught me, a zero tolerance to new purchases. And check things out asap.

Maybe some possible customer had the camera out of the box in the store and looked at it, but didn't buy? If so, it doesn't have to be Canon's fault from the beginning.
