Help me with my flash!

Hello,

I recently acquired a canon 60d, and I have a bower flash. I typically use my camera in M or AV. In AV, the camera doesn't acknowledge the flash and doesn't adjust accordingly, causing a slow shutter speed.

What's causing this, and can I do anything to change it? Do I need a canon flash?

The camera in AV mode will expose for the background thus causing a slow shutter speed. You can go into your custom functions and select the 1/60-1/250" option to prevent this.

When in manual mode on the camera, are you saying that the flash isn't working in auto and you are getting underexposed images?

It works fine in M, I can adjust appropriately. I'll try that setting. Thanks!
