We haven't been getting out to shoot much lately but did manage a quick trip to the Ridgefield NWR in the rain.

Thanks for looking. There were lots of big birds out there last week but not what I would have expected this time of year. Lots of egrets around. I just wish you could get out of the car and walk a bit, but the only walking trail is closed for the season. rick_reno wrote in post #15215720 nice shot, that one does look upset Thanks Rick - funny, I have another shot with nearly the same pose but with a pond in the background. Looks almost like the same bird - but I guess they all look pretty much alike. Dave

WallaceRiver " ...a bit of a pervy voyeur " More info | Great shot, Dave. I like staking these guys out and waiting for the fishing shots too. We have just one hardy guy left here, all the rest have headed south. It went down to -8C overnight. IAN - Living life on the shores of the Wallace River in northern Nova Scotia, Canada :

Thank you, these guys look so forlorn when they are all hunched up like this. Wallace River wrote in post #15217327 Great shot, Dave. We had a bunch of them around last week at the reserve. Along with egrets. I'll check later this week to see if they are still there. photocopy wrote in post #15217859 great photo.. i still havent gone down that way... is the drive-thru muddy or is it paved? I might get back up to the Nisqually wildlife preserve before it gets to nasty.. Thanks photocopy - the drive-thru is quite wet but is hard packed gravel I think, so no big issue driving through. There was a Prius in front of me for a while on this trip. I do stay clear of the edges though. The only walking trail outside of the bird blind is closed for the season. Dave
