Hello folks, i have been searching for a new canon DSLR with fast fps on cropped sensor, i was frustrated when i new that the 1DX is a full frame DSLR, dont get me wrong i like it a lot but its full frame and the last good canon DSLR with 1.6 sensor is the 7D and that's it and the new 6D is also a full frame with 5.5 fps!!! i wonder when they will make something like the 7D with more focus points, image processor and ISO range and qualitym T4i is funny also with 9 AF points and 5 fps -,-;;
i dont know what to do, should i wait for something new maybe who knows or i pay 7 grands on 1DX and another 10 grands for 500mm L lens -,-;;

Canon R6 / RF 28-70L / RF 70-200L / RF 15-35L / EF 50 f/1.2L / EF 85 f1.8 / EF 100 f/2.8 Macro USM ... and Tons more

What's wrong with the 7D now? It still produces great images and 8fps is plenty fast. The AF is still pretty good and reliable.

But no one knows *besides Canon" when the next 1.6 DSLR will be. It would be 7D2, 70D...etc Hard to say right now except what is floating around with rumors. I believe CR has some rumors of a new crop camera but like I said, just rumors.

You could go with a 1d mkIV instead.

No matter what you get or when you get it, they will eventually release something better.

the 7D is getting a bit "old" so it might be worth the wait. But that depends on how much you are willing to spend on the replacement and what you will do in the meantime. I'd far rather have the best available 1.6 crop camera now and think about an upgrade in the future than sit and wait an unknown amount of time for the next big thing.

The number of AF points is alot like the number of megapixels. If you genuinely need them then it can be a dealmaker/breaker. Not necessarily something to consider too heavily though if not. The AF on the 7D is very good as is. Great value for the price right now.

As above, the 1DIV might be worth considering as well.

Able to store more frames in the buffer. In camera RAW editing. In camera picture grading. Plus a few other things that I can't recall at this time.

I'm in Canada. Isn't that weird!

Actually there have been quite a few crop releases after the 7D.
The T2i in feb 2010
The 60D in sep 2010
The t3i in march 2011
and the T3 in march 2011 as well.

That's 4 crop cameras since the 7D, all decent cameras.

Or are you specifically asking when the replacement for the 7D will com out. That's a different question.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.
