Hello! Me Again:oops:. Looking for a suggestion or two.

I currently own a Canon 60D, Tokina 11-16, and 17-40L. I have a friend who's looking to trade his 24-105 for my 17-40 because he want's a wider angle on FF, and I have the tokina and feel like the 17-40 is wasted because I never use it wider than 25-30ish. I think I'd have fun with the zoom available on the 105.

My question:
Is the 24-105 the same IQ as the 17-40? I absolutely love the IQ, the sharpness and contrast is astounding with it. If the IQ is the same, I'll swap. Who's got words to share?:)

The IQ between the 17-40 and 24-105 is very comparable with maybe the 24-105 being a tad better as it distorts less. Also, the 24-105 totally smokes the 17-40 at all focal leangths greater than 40. ;):)

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

That's good! I forgot the 24-105 has IS as well.

Anyone else have opinions on the matter?

if you don't really use the lens' focal lengths, and you would use the 24-105 focal length - I don't see a downside. And if you ever missed the 17-40 - you could always pick up another one.

i really love my 24-105 (however I do not have a 17-40 for comparison sake) but it depends on how *YOU* would use the lens.

It's your shooting style that should determine the worth of the trade. I had both lenses at the same time but each had its purpose especially while getting paid

I do need a more telephoto lens, but an unexpected twist is I'm getting rid of my 60d and picking up a 5dm2, so I won't miss as much of the wide angle.

Thanks for the info guys.
