not sure where to post this but from an email i got today Adobe CS5 wont be giving you any upgrades you will get a discount on the CS6... i was really hopingthey would at least upgrade the RAW in mine ( CS5.1 extended.) sortta sucks when you cant afford to upgrade.
I will consider inrolling in another photo class at the college in the near future, so i can get the upgrade.

You can use lightroom instead of ACR to import into cs5. I still use CS3 whose latest ACR will not support my new 5D so I'm using lightroom as a workaround.

Well you would need lightroom to do it. I'm using the downloadable 30-day trial now. You can also get a free download to convert your raw file to a tiff to import, but I dont think it has all the bells and whistles of ACR.

Just keep in mind that Lightroom can wind you up on some points if you are looking for a RAW editor and not a catalogue tool...
(I have my issues with Lightroom - but it does do a good job at being a RAW editor along the way which is what I got it for.)

I don't know what your issues are with lightroom, but it uses the same raw conversion engine as ACR only the cataloging tool overlaid on top.

Oh, the RAW conversion is fine. But only that...

It is the interface as well as the catalogue implementation that is partially idiotic and partially more than clumsy and not well thought out.
