Interesting - it has a faint diamond-back pattern on it's back, but doesn't have a viper head.

It's a Northern Diamondback Water Snake (external link), they are really common around here. I take shots of them all of the time, they are my favorite ones, with the red eyes.

The eyes tell me it's non-venomous; not sure of the species though.

Agreed with Randy. I did research on them just outside of the DSW area a couple years back. Definitely a diamondback water snake...Nerodia rhombifer
