Earlier this year we were establishing the mine haul roads for the BHP Billiton open pit expansion project at Olympic Dam (which has now been canned). During night shift several roos were killed by the trucks and then dragged to scrub on the edge of the roads - mainly to keep the eagles off the roads during the day. Fortunately this made the eagles very easy subjects as I went about doing my mine inspections, often with 6-8 eagles perched in low trees and branches nearby. It was simply a matter of pulling up slowly in the ute, getting out and as I crept towards them, snap away. I reckon the closest I got was about 20 metres. Thanks for looking.

Often great shots are being ready, and just taking advantage of opportunity, as did you
