Very restricted shooting, two songs, lightboard only, she never moved from behind the microphone stands (two, one for her, one for fiddle) and the lighting wasn't good!

#2 Just managed to shoot between the stands!

#3 She didn't move ... I moved laterally at the light board where there is an aisle.

How was the show? One of my favorites to see. They've played many outdoor events where you could walk right up to the stage and shoot as a paying fan in the past but maybe they've gotten too big now.

Good set.
In #2: Why not shoot (or crop) way closer? IMO, the part below the waist adds nothing.

I expect that all these restrictions are the work mostly of publicists or others who need to do something to appear to earn their money. At our venue we don't have a pit or fence off the audience but they aren't allowed to belly up to the stage until the last two or three songs.

Anyway, I rarely stay for a concert after I can no longer shoot unless it is something really special. When I shot KISS the second night I left after my three songs and went to a "Movie in the Park" with my daughter!

I had already cut off the top of the bow and wanted the bottom of the image for balance. I do think she should have let her Mom dress her.

I guess I'm just a big fan of the group, just about the most special performers in today's live performances for me. Boy has Jerry put on some weight! He's the best there is at the Dobro...

Yup, the dobro player was excellent ... please note from the EXIF that many of these were taken at 560mm on 1.3 crop body ... might have made him look fat! LOL.

Damn I had to take a second, I didn't notice that you were so far away, excellent sharpness and exposure considering!

I think you've hit it on the head there. I shoot every year at a 2-day music festival here, and I typically have a chance to meet and speak with the bands before their sets. Most don't care one way or the other about my being there, some go out of their way to be helpful (e.g. telling me when they plan on doing some goofy stunt, etc.), and others are extremely difficult to work with. In the latter cases, it's usually not the band members themselves, but rather their managers...

Looks like you got some good shots, especially given the limitations.
