Which Brand has best paper Selection?

I'd like to buy a printer for printing color photos and my own postcards. I am assuming that it would be best to use the manufactures paper as well. So, which company has the best printer and best selection of paper . . . particularly postcard material? Anybody make postcards with the postal info already printed on the back so I can just print my photo to the front? I am also open to any suggestions, mix and match brand suggestions, etc. Thanks.

I personally don't think it's necessary to match the printer manufacturer with the paper manufacturer.

Truth be told, I don't think many printer makers actually make paper. I think it's just labeled with their name on it.

Find the printer that best suits your needs then find paper that works for you.

I was printing photo's today with an Epson 2400 on Kodak Ultima paper and before downloading the profiles and following Kodak's recomendations I found my photo's terrible as they took on a greenish tinge and had a lot of noise. After folowing Kodak's setting recomendations my photo's came out good but nowhere near as good as the photo's printed on Epson Velvit Fine Art paper.

With experience I'm sure I could tweak the settings to get great shots on the Kodak paper, but life sure was easier using the profiles already included with the paper made from the same manufacturer as the printer.

I don't know about post cards but it's easy enough to make your own if you choose the right paper to print characters on the opposite side.

I think Avery sells inkjet postcards - capable of being mailed with the proper spacing/info on the non-photo side. Plus it should be the proper weight. Last thing you want is to send a piece of photopaper as a postcard and have it get bent because it's not stiff enough.

I use the Kodak Ultima with a canon 6600 printer. My prints are much better than anything I can get ptinted at the local discount stores, club warehouses.

Ive tried epson papers, hp papers, canon, and store brands. Im happiest with the Kodak ultima.

Edits welcomed, please post what you did.

I agree with Turnerzdad, before buying a paper find first a printer that best suit your needs...;) Try searching online, there's plenty of print shop available online.

Epson by far has the largest selection of branded paper. I do agree with the other posts, pick a printer that meets your needs/budget and the paper issue will work itself out.

I have tried many different paper brands as well and have found that Ilford Galleria and Kodak Ultima provide me with the best results.

I have tried numerous papers and found that the best quality paper at a very reasonable price isd the Ilford range.

I started with their premium photo glossy 4X6" and liked what I saw so tried their Premium phot pearl A4 and now have the Gakerie smooth pearl A3 paper and the results are stunning.

I, too, prefer the results I get with the Ilford Smooth Pearl. It works well with my Epson printer.

I am a Canon printer fan,..

But by far the Printer company with the best paper selection is Epson.
Really no contest.
