Great pictures Dwight, did you enjoy the gig? I really love JT, Thick as a Brick, Aqualung and A Passion Play were the soundtrack of my youth :-)

these are nice, esp the 1st montage (i love Ian's expression).

i tried to shoot Tull a couple of years ago and was told Ian never issued photo passes. did you have any trouble setting this one up? or was it different as you were shooting for the house?

Well, you force me to acknowledge that about half of these were actually shot by Gary McDuffie, Jr., who is my shooting partner and assistant at the Chumash. He has been working with me for about nine months. He has taken a ton of brutal critique without an eye blink and his images improve at every show. I have a ton of equipment (see my gear list in my .sig) and he simply uses whatever he needs beyond his own, such as my 400mm f/2.8, often with a TC. I own the copyright to all the images on behalf of the casino so they are simply all combined, culled and renamed without respect to shooter ... much of the time anymore we have to resort to the EXIF to know which body was used in order to know who shot a particular image. I do all post processing.

We didn't stay beyond our three song limit, but I wasn't impressed by the live performance ... what I had heard over the years was much superior. But if you were a Jethro Tull fan I think it would have been awe inspiring to see live!

Tim, I have no idea why we were allowed to shoot ... not just Gary and I but also three media togs, although it may be part of the Chumash contract due to a couple of events where the talent refused to allow me to shoot without prior notice (I got paid anyway.) Because of the somewhat odd shooting limitations I sought out the Production Manager for clarification and even he had no idea why we were being allowed as no other place on this tour had permission. I had a tog friend out of L.A. who claims to be a friend of the publicist who wasn't given credentials complain loud and long and finally asked if he could come up and shoot with me, but by then it was too late for credential approval.

Here is another version of the line drawing ... I'm been playing with Topaz Simplify 4 and really like the graphics look of the images:

Solid set.

Nit-picks: The keyboard player in #1, and the eyes in #4. Also I'd crop out the finger in the right of #4.

Not a big fan of the edits of #5 ;)

Thanks, Rene. I see I screwed up the numbering for #1 and #2 and assume you mean the second picture ... not sure what you mean about the keyboardist? I didn't even see the fingers in #4.

Given all the flak I have gotten over the years for being overly consistent to the point of sterility I would have thought you'd be overjoyed that I tried something different! :-)

#1; first image. First images posted = collage .
Keyboardist (is that what you call it?) has his head half hidden behind the mic.

IMO, the finger sticks out like a sore thumb ;)
I think I'm kinda allergic to little distractions just getting in the frame

Edits: I like it as an "image", not as a "photo".

I was a Tull semi-fan 40 thirty years ago. I shudder to think what he sounds like today.
