My 7D was several years and about 5,000 clicks old when I suspect a tip over while wearing that big 70-200 lead to a problem.

The "quick control dial" on the back of the body quit working.

I mailed it to the Jamesburg, N.J. Repair Center on 10-26-2012 (USPS regular with insurance) and lo and behold only 15 days later, FedEx has returned my camera!

A quick run through revealed my 7D is a-okay, working good as new!

Some maybe interested in learning the cost associated with this. The out of warranty standard labor charge was $219 & shipping/handling was a fair $14.

(compare to USPS $6.05 to ship PLUS $14.75 for $1200 worth of insurance)

Did I mention I live in N.J. - the tax was an additional $16.31

So, long story short for a mere $249.31 my beloved 7D is back in the nest!

This is my second positive encounter with the repair center.

They previously reconstructed my 70-200 f4 lens after it crashed into a ceramic tile floor from about 4 feet up! I do not recall the exact cost but it was around the same to put that Humpty Dumpty back together again. It worked flawlessly after the fix.

Bravo to the folks at my nearest repair center.

The fact they are able to handle the repairs I require quickly and for fair money is just one more reason I am please to pitch my tent at Canons campsite!

Not sure where they're located in relation to the coast, but they turned around my 400mm 2.8 IS II with firmware update within seven days there and back from Michigan, sent there a few days after Sandy hit. Amazing. Shipping was included, and there was no cost to me.

There are LOTS of those posted here, I'd suggest a search.

My 40D just went to Irvine on Wednesday (a local repair shop said I needed a new board) and they contacted me Friday with the estimate. I'll let you know how it goes.

I think that the facility is a little over 20 miles from the coast. I've had nothing but good service from them and the Virginia center.

I mailed it from San Diego late Wednesday, it got there late Thursday and I got the estimate & they started repairs on Friday. I hope to have it back this week. The majority of reviews I've read online gave Irvine 4-5 stars.

Mostly not good. They used to me great like 5 years ago, something happened since then. :(

Yes its a very good facility. I've used it several times for different reasons. I am retired and live only 25 minutes from the repair center so I just drop it off rather then mail in in. I usually get a call back that my service is done within 3-4 business days. If, like me, you don't want to risk damage while cleaning the sensor, they will do it for you for $30. And, if you bring it in to the repair center, they will have the sensor cleaning completed within an hour. I've had this done once for my 60D and once for my T2i. I just go grab a quick lunch and by the time I get back, my camera is good to go.

The NJ and the VA centers are very good. The NJ center is right off of the NJ Turnpike, so if you live near it or know you will pass by there, you can get a cleaning if you reserve the time.

Actually, you generally don't need an appointment for a sensor cleaning. They give walk-ins priority. But it safer to call ahead, just in case they are backed up.

Irvine had been really good. 7 Day return and they send you a progress report as soon as they receive your item.
