The summers definitely here when the cicadas arrive. I found this big guy this morning. He was around 3in long, no wonder they make so much bloody noise :rolleyes:. He was happy to pose on my hand for some snaps before i put him back on his perch. Hope you like him.

Lucky!! They are one of my favorite insects. Their life cycles fascinate me. I used to love playing with them when I would see them in Oklahoma, where my grandma used to live before she moved out here. I'm stuck on the cicada-less west coast of the US.

These used to make the most soothing sound in our backyard when I was a kid. I could listen to them all day and soak up the sun.

Ditto on Oklahoma and grandparents. Some fond memories of western OK. They (my grandparents) are long gone, and not a Cicada here in Nevada.

LOL. good captures. In S. Texas, we used to have these but it was before I was into photography - and we mostly saw the empty shells as well...
