Has anyone had any experience with this accessory?

I've got a bunch of 600EX's so I'm wondering if this is something I could use shooting into a softbox. I was able to find a Chimera speedring that holds 2 flashes but nothing that holds 3.

This video shows the use of 6 flashes mounted on one boom:

It makes me wonder why he wouldn't just use a strobe like the Einstein.

Because he's using them in ETTL mode (??)

I use manual exposure settings on the copy machine

bannedPermanent ban

There are times several small strobes have advantages over a studio strobe.
Portable and fast recycle are key for this shoot setup.

But are 6 flashes more portable than an Einstein with a battery pack?

Probably not... but the Einstein doesn't support ETTL or HSS.

Ok. I think you just sold me on the accessory. Now I just have to find out what kind of modifiers it will fit. I'm surprised more people haven't seen this thing. It's still a tad pricey for a ring with three cold shoes.

Sly Arena lists a few of them in the Speedliters Handbook:

Lastolite's TriFlash (external link)
IDC's Triple Threat (external link) (which you obviously already found)
Liteware's FourSquare (external link)

... and obviously the ebay versions as well.
