We went out to take some pictures of little JD in his monkey hat that my wife made for him. I wanted to do this a couple weeks ago when the leaves on the trees were more colorful, but work, weather, and other things prevented it until now. We also decided to get the other kids involved.

Very CUTE! I just wish that 2nd one was a little more in focus but you might be able to touch it up in Photo Shop.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

I don't mind. I had actually aready done that some, but I was afraid it would look like too much if I went further.

Yes, I know... sometimes we can get carried away with editing but I really try hard to make sure the eyes are in focus & brightened enough to stand out. When I photograph sleepy newborns, I make sure the lips are the standout :)

Good to know.... I was a little disapointed with the softness of his eyes (and face in general) in some of these. I had for gotten that I had left my AF on AI servo from something else I'd been shooting. Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't seem like I get as sharp a focus with set there as I do with it set to "one shot".

One Shot AND a prime lens will give you the sharpest shot, IMHO.

Yep! I totally forgot to pull out my nifty-fifty when I was shooting today but I think in my case I still got some pretty sharp pictures with just my kit lens.

Nifty-fifty is what I was using. It's capable of being extremely sharp, but something didn't work out quite right for some of these. I'm not sure if it was the AF setting that I mentioned earlier, all his movement, or my movement due the odd positions I was in to get down to his level.

I like the composition of the last of the first group of pictures. I wouldn't think to position people so far apart but I really like the look of that shot.
