I found that having both eyes open helps me track my subjects better when shooting motorsport. Feels like I can pan smoother, whether or not this is true is another thing

I do it both ways and not sure whether it makes a difference. When I leave both open is usually because i know something is happening out of the frame that I want to see coming. Otherwise, one eye closed helps me concentrate. Getting better with sports is all about practice, practice, practice. You need to really know the sport, and in some cases even know the team to understand their plays and predict what is going to happen. Shooting sports requires that you be very involved in what is going on in the action at the moment.
