Western states and provinces they only count one side. So yes, to me that is an 8pt. Thanks to everyone for the kind words and remarks. Attila P.

Grizz1 Goldmember More info | Nov 14, 2012 21:10 | #9 Yes it is regional as to how to count points,I would call him a 7 point as I do not see 4 points on his left beam. Some would say he is a 4 point and yet others would say he was a 4x3 or 4x4. He also looks to me to be a mature buck and I would consider his rack to be small for his age if he lived in my area. Having said all this, I now must say it is a great photo in natural habitat and I like it very much, it just has that look to it, the one I've seen thousands of times and not quite captured on my camera, good job! Thanks much, appreciate your feedback. Attila P.

Nov 15, 2012 13:35 | #14 The 4 point system from Canada must be metric. Just kidding. This has been an interesting discussion on regional terminology. Sorry I showed up late. I usually associate the 4x5 or "x" anything with elk and had never thought why. Deer have always been "x" pointers and moose have always been in inches (but you have to count the brow tines). Great shot to be sure. Big bodied animal. I like how you chose to crop it. It gives the buck some environmental context. switched to olympus
