Blackburnian Congrats Gary!

They will at times let you take these shots but very rare. Congrats on your experience and your shots!

Love em all!

Marc

Thank you very much Marc, most appreciated:) I found him/her on Wall road west of Trim. It was 3:30 PM and I had just picked up Gail from work. She was OK with me doing a tour of the area before going home ( looking for the Northern Hawk Owl) and she has great eyes having helped me in the past to find the N.Hawk Owl and Great Greys last year. We decided to take Wall Road coming home when there he is.:D Gail could see him on a post in the field after I shot the flight so she took the wheel and I went for a walk. The freezing rain made it perfect to walk on the snow as my weight rarely broke through. I got closer the second time and the Owl is at eye level. I will post those as soon as I can. Hope to see you soon and have a Happy New Year and a great 2006.

Gary;
Well you snagged a good one there buddy. Nice day (Lighting) (Not the Chill Factor).

As I mentioned to you; we went to Janets Cousin's for Dinner tonight. Stopped by Frank Kenny area about 3:45....Just for a look. You know..Hawk-Owl Hunt. :mad:

But Janet spotted the Snowy way off (1000 yds) in the field. Stopped for a look; tried to get the kids to see him/her...But off it went. (Oh Well; off for dinner at the cousins.

Rounding the bend on Frank Kenny coming up to Innes; Low and behold there it is right in front of us on a telephone pole.
By now it's getting dark. Cranked the ISO; Opened the Aperture; Opened the the Van door....Pooooof...Gone.

To make a long story; even a little longer; managed to get a couple of shots of it on the pole (Not real close; but as close as I have been); and two flight shots. Too Poor to post though. I need help to process it. :rolleyes:

Nice job on yours.

Wow, very nice shots! Especially with a 280mm lens. That owl sure was active for such a bright day. Good job on catching the flight!

These Owls are pretty active in daylight. It makes sense since in the summer months there is so much daylight/evening light/night light in the far north. Thanks for looking and commenting N.:)

Yeah; they're RAW. I'll pop them on a memorystick for the next time we see each other.
