I struggled with where these photos should be posted, they aren't your traditional people shots.

I'm doing a lot of conceptional photography lately. I had an idea for a mermaid playing chess with a sailor so this was the result. C&C always welcome.

While I had the crew at the beach I decided to do another for my Crossroads Series. This one is called "Postpartum".

Cool concepts. I like the first, wish there were more light on the both of them though?
Second is just cool.
Third is emotionally disturbing but well done.

I agree about #3...it's a little disturbing but very well executed. Bravo!

number 2 is stunning, number 3 is disturbing, but that's ok, well done. I love the idea for number 1, but the light isn't right somehow. I wish I could be more articulate about what is wrong with the light, but it doesn't have ambiance or something. still, good stuff!

I'd crop mermaid so she isn't so dead center, but I love number 2. gorgeous.

Composition. Your subjects are all in the dead center of the image leaving the viewing pleasure rather incomplete. I'd rather see her being much larger in the images than she appears. She would have benefitted from having her legs more horizontal in the first 2 photos. He legs straight down seems rather mundane.

Thanks for the feedback.

I don't like that they are centered in #1 either, but because of the original shot and wanting to get all of the tail in the image I didn't have many options.

I struggled with the composition on #2, I wanted to show that the rock was out in the water and not just a jetty. Here is a more traditional crop. Would like to know what you think.

#3 is part of a series and all images in the series are centered intentionally. Sometimes the rules should be broken.

As for the tail straight down, I'll go back and look at the images. There are a couple that might work with tail horizontal. I'll give it a try and see what I think.
