Found this guy the other day. Let me take pictures without to much fuss. Think there's even a bit of blood on his feathers!

Thanks! It wasn't too cold out. Winter has just begun here and it was only around -5 Celsius that day. There's a pair of them and I'm really hoping for owlets. Then I just need to figure out how to get pictures of the nest as it's waaay up in a pine tree.

Great shot, especially handheld w/ 500. Have you tried the 500 with a 1.4 ext and tripod? That might help get you some nest shots. I hope to see more.

I've tried the 1.4 but i didn't like the results. I'm working on finishing my tripod setup so most of my stuff is hand held. I occasionally put it on my monopod. I think once i get it on a tripod my results will improve.
