My grandpa gave me a Carl Zeiss 8x30b monocular that he used to sight the ball when he played golf. The model number is 581445 and from what I have found it was used to mount on the old Zeiss Contaflex cameras which had a fixed 50mm f/2.8 lens. This monocular was designed to thread onto this lens providing an apparent 400mm focal length for the camera, here is a picture http://en.wikipedia.org …ex_superB_Zeiss_8x30B.JPG
After realizing that I could thread it to a camera I started trying to find out what I would need to make it all work on my digital camera. I would like to get a 50mm jennar lens and thread on this 8x30b similar to the original contaflex setup. Of course in my case I would be using a T3i camera body instead of the contaflex. My problem is that I have no idea what thread adapters I need and I cant figure out exactly which 50mm zeiss lens I can use to substitute for the 50mm lens found on the contaflex. I also cant figure out if I need a step down adapter or any other parts. Does anyone have experience with vintage zeiss stuff? If so please HELP!
