Views of Scotland

A couple more from my evr increasing mass of photos to edit. These two got the treatment today so thought id share them with you. The first is the rather unmistakable view of the Forth Rail Bridge near Edinburgh. The sky was a little cloudy but for a first crack i was happy.

The second is Ben Lomond and Loch Lomond seen from a peak on the west side of the Loch, near a littl village called Luss. I posted a similar picture a while back but im far happier with the end result here.

Nice! Love the light in the second one, unmistakably Scotland!

Love them both. Can you give us details of lens, exposure etc?

In the first that band of sunlight certainly makes the image - good capture

Both are winners, for sure.

Mike: Thanks for your comments. Both shots were taken with my 10D and a Tokina 19-35mm. The forth bridge was F22, with a 15sec exposure at ISO 200. Ben Lomond was taken at F11 and an exposure of maybe a second i believe. Unfortunatly this is from memory as im still unsure how to access my EXIF data. If anyone knows feel free to enlighten me.

David and Al: Appreciate both your comments. I agree that the light does make the first shot, probably would have been pitch black without it.

Dimitri: Your right again my friend. I was indeed up in the hills behind you. Luss itself is a lovely little village itself and looks wonderful from the surrounding hillsides. I love the colour and sharpness of your shot too. Didnt look like that a couple of weeks ago i can tell you, not a leaf on a tree..... well, not many.

both super shots here but two wins it for me simply as being a hillwalker in scotland myself ive stood on the top of the ben on numerous ocassions and only when your up in the hills taking pictures from the top looking down do you really see the BIGGER picture

its all well driving around scotland looking for a pleasing view but people like yourself whe make a REAL effort to show the real scotland deserve much more credit than is often dished out

Im glad you liked them John, and i would agree that #2 is the pic of the pair. Ive only been up the Ben twice so far, once we were clouded out quite badly (maybe 15ft visibility) and the second we were swarmed my mozzies in late summer. But from what i did see the views were pretty spectacular. I also agree that there is only so much you can do in a car. Always good to stretch those legs i say.
