I had a T2i and went to a 7D recently. Got a 17-55 f/2.8 and a 70-200 f/4 L, and I think that's a great combo. Sure, there's a little gap between 55 and 70, but I've never really noticed. Later on, I want to get a 1.4x teleconverter to get more reach. Then eventually upgrade to one of the nicer 70-200 lenses.

I found a great deal on my 70-200 on craigslist. Check around, sometimes deals pop up!

Speaking of overlap. I have a Canon 15-85 USM and a Sigma 17-70 OS HSM and I can't find myself getting rid of either. Despite the very similar focal lengths, they both have strengths that the other does not and I find them both useful for different things.

I am serious....and don't call me Shirley.

I have a T3i and have been using a Tamron 28-75mm for about a year now. It's a great walking lens but with a crop sensor I don't think the 28mm is wide enough for me.

I'm trying to replace my 28-75 with a tamron 17-50 lol
