Reliable Yongnuo Flash

I'm looking for an affordable backup flash for my 430ex that I use occasionally on location with my STE2. The YN flashes are intriguing especially for the price, but I'm a bit confused by their lineup.

What are other's experiences here with them, what is a good match for the 430ex and will they work with the Canon infrared STE2 setup?

I've had a yn468, 2 yn560's, a yn565, and a yn568.

The only one I had issues with was the yn565 and that was because of a bad main board, a problem that they have since fixed with the newer yn565's

The yn565 and yn568 would be a good match with the 430ex. They may have a little more power then the 430 but the yn468 is a little less powerful then the 430ex

I do not know if any work woth the canon ste2

I have YN-560's thta I've been abusing quite a bit. Very happy with them and for the price you can't go wrong

Very happy with my 2 560s. The slave function works well with my einstein. No need for wireless triggers (although I have them) in many cases. For $60...well worth it.

Has anybody used the 560's as slaves with infrared, like even the 580EX? I want to use it with the STE2 and alongside the 430EX.

Is the YN Ebay store the quickest place to get them?

Could be wrong but I don't believe they will work that way...not with the Canon system.

I have 3 560ii and a 565ex and they have all been reliable for me.

I've been using a YN465 and several YN460's for over three years with no problems

I ordered mine from gaingame-outlet on eBay on the 8th and got it on the 13th. Pretty quick

A read a review that tested the 560/565/568 at the exact same output as the 430EXii. I have not tested this in practice as i dont own any of the yongnuo lineup but im itching to get a pair of 560s

i have no idea either but the 560 is a pure strobist flash. No ettl and purely only manual settings. The 568 might work with the ste2 but i cant confirm that as i dont own either. Besides the yongnuo series have an optic slave. You can trigger your 430Ex with the ste2 and the 430EX will optically trigger the yongnuos. The newer yongnuos aparently have a pretty reliable optic slave even in harsh daylight

560s are only optical slaves.

I have 560 and 460ii's and have used them to death (figuratively). No issues what so ever. If you can catch a deal on a 560 for $45, get two!

Picked up my YN on Amazon had it in a couple days, and it was sold and shipped by Amazon so easy returns if there was a problem when it showed up.
