Hello everyone,

It has been a loooong time since I last posted on this forum. For these new post I'll share some of the pictures I took in India where I am studying for four months (one month left!).

I hop you'll like it! (Some pictures are taken with 40D and Tamron 17-50 VC...but unfortunately it was stolen and the other pictures where taken with a 1100D with kit lens and 55-250 IS). If you do, you can find other pictures on my blog: http://escalesphotographiques.wordpress.com/ (external link). Pictures of Nepal and Southern India will be posted shortly

buddy i am sure you would have made some good bong (bengali) fiends - bongs are famous for their hospitality and sharing and all all the food can be done in a day (go to a good authentic sweet shop - not the average cheap ones and sample the food) - and for the temples/places - the photo ops are great. I maintain that streey photography has the best character in Asia especially India and Kolkata is the most interesting. Too bad when I was young I had never had the interest in photography and spend the time chasing other things instead.

Pretty much anywhere in India is great for street and urban candid photography but especially a place like Kolkata because of the sheer mass of humanity that lives there.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Also, see if you can make it to Kaziranga before you leave. It's not too far from West Bengal.

Great set, i haven't been to Calcutta in like 10 years. I like the human aspect to these and less architectural type things.

Bangalore is meh... if you are going there on business, fine because it is a major IT center, but get out of Bangalore and travel around. The South is fantastic - Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are all unique. The temple architecture in Tamil Nadu is fabulous, the pinnacle of such architecture in India. I spent my childhood in Madras (Chennai), a major port city in the South.

Yeah Bangalore is meh for sure... Kerela and Goa are fun. You can skip Hyderabad for the most part also. Chennai, never been.

In my opinion, Rajasthan is one of the greatest areas to photograph. Not only for the mughal and mehwar influences but also the street life is quite vibrant and there are lots of sights to see. If you do find yourself in Rajasthan, don't skip the lesser known places like Abhaneri stepwell etc..

Looking forward to seeing more of your photos, thanks for sharing.

Wanting to travel to India in the future, can you give any tips/lessons you have learned while being there? Most importantly, how did your camera get stolen?
