My wife has finally decided that she looks more "pregnant" than "fat" and has allowed me to start up the photographs again. Went over to Dumbo and took about 70 shots (not bad, 65 keepers or so). Anyway, here's a few after processing, yeah, I know they're over contrasted but my wife and I are on an "over-contrasted" fling right now. All taken with a borrowed 50mm 1.4 ... no sharpening at all on any photos.

Of those that loaded, nice shots. Very nice eyes. At least four were red x's.

My wife is from brooklyn, and we both lived there for a few years in the 80s. Downtown Brooklyn, The Heights, Joralemon St.

Good luck with the baby.

Really nice series. You've got a very good eye for composition and one sharp lens too. :D

Thanks. My wife took the shot of me, and I setup the tripod for the shot of us. As far as the lens goes, I like the 1.4 (like I said, borrowed from a friend), but in tests I ran yesterday, its actually less sharp than my 1.8 ... with that said, I think I have an exceptional 1.8.

I like them all except for the last two. Such severe crops that cut out half a face don't do anything for me but that's just my preference. First one gets my vote for the best one.

Thanks .... I tend to love severe crops, but I'm with you on this one, something about that crop doesn't work. I couldn't put my finger on it so I tried about 8 different crops of that picture and none were as pleasing as that one. So I stuck with it.

I think you may be selling yourself short Bill. I love the 2nd last shot. The black and white version really highlights her eyes.

Thanks ... I just don't like how the other eye is cut off ... something isn't right about that, but I like everything else. As for her eyes, I love the shot where shes looking up at the camera and has that little smile going on =)

I agree. That was my favorite of the bunch.

They're all great shots but my fav. is the second last. Even with the severe crop it still manages to portray the magical expression worn only by pregnant women ;)

When's the baby due, and good luck.

Thanks! The baby is due March 6th, though it feels like its taken a year and I can't wait for him to pop out (it's a boy, his name is Tyler). I just showed your post to my wife (regarding the comment on the magical expression) and she blushed =).
